Leclerc takes Pole position in Monaco GP 2021 .This is Leclerc’s first pole at his home race and eight pole overall . Leclerc crashed his SF21, 18 seconds before the finish of Q3, thereby red flagging the session ,which led to others not improving their time sheets .
Earlier in free practice , Ferrari was on fire topping the time sheets .Verstappen qualified 2nd followed by Valtteri Bottas . Carlos Sainz qualified 4th .Hamilton qualified P7 .
Lando Norris in the Gulf Oil liveried McLaren was sixth, the team’s best Monaco start since 2012, with Pierre Gasly making it three top six starts in five Grands Prix.
The main race kicks off at 1300UTC tomorrow . With Leclerc’s car damaged in crash , change of parts may incur grid penalties which may lead Verstappen to take the pole .
