Yes you read it right , “Deadpool” actor Ryan Reynolds is part of an investment group which has taken a 24% equity stake in Alpine F1 Team.

The investment group includes Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney, Michael B Jordan, RedBird Capital Partners, and Otro Capital .

In November 2020 , Reynolds and McElhenney had purchased a struggling north Wales club (Wrexham AFC ) and the duo played a vital role in transforming the club , which eventually won the National League last season.

RedBird Capital Partners own the third-largest stake in Fenway Sports Group, owner of Liverpool FC, the Boston Red Sox baseball team and has stakes in Milan and Toulouse.

The $200m (£171m ) investment by the group now values Alpine racing at about £706m.

Alpine has set the target of breaking even by 2026 and earning £8 billion in revenue by 2030 .

Alpine’s CEO Laurent Rossi said , “This association is an important step to enhance our performance at all levels. The incremental revenue generated will in turn be reinvested in the team, in order to further accelerate our Mountain Climber plan, aimed at catching up with top teams in terms of state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.”

He also believed that the new investment will boost Alpine’s media profile and performance in long run .

Alpine is currently placed 5th in the Constructors Championship .
