Seven time F1 world Champion Lewis Hamilton is having an uphill task to finalize a deal with Mercedes to stay in the sport .

Earlier in January , Mercedes boss Toto Wolff suggested that there would be no issues in renewing Hamilton’s contract , but the talks are going-on for seven months and the deal is not signed yet .

Hamilton’s current deal is worth £27.5m a year, plus a £15m bonus for winning the title and is currently 4th in the Drivers Championship with 102 points .

What has caused the issue now ?

As reported by Dailymail , Hamilton is looking for a £200 million ambassadorial deal for 10 years , which Mercedes is not willing to offer .

He is also looking for a new long-term deal with the Silver Arrows, including a bonus as guaranteed income.

Mercedes are willing to offer the 38 year old a one-year contract with the option for a second.

At the present , Hamilton is under pressure to lower his demands to stay in F1 .

However F1 commentator David Croft is confident that both parties will come to an agreement soon, as neither Hamilton nor Mercedes wants the relationship to end .

Croft said ,”Lewis wants to stay with Mercedes. Mercedes want to stay with him. It will get done. It won’t be about money.

“It’ll be about support for The Hamilton Commission. Support with various things that Lewis wants to do.

“Tie-ups with the future. Maybe an ambassadorial role? There will be lots of little things that need sorting out. But it will get done, and it wouldn’t surprise me if it was announced at Silverstone.”
