Here’s how a Sprint race weekend works :
Free Practice1 [FP1] and Qualifying on Friday
Free Practice2[FP2] and Sprint race on Saturday
Main Race on Sunday .
The traditional qualifying which usually happens on Saturday , will happen on Friday . Free Practice3[FP3] will not happen on a sprint weekend .
The sprint race will be run over 100km , with drivers going flat out right from the start of the race till the end without any need to pit .The finishing order of the sprint race will define the grid place for Sunday’s main race .
In the sprint race , points will be awarded to drivers until P8 position. The driver who finishes P1 will get 8 points, and then every consequent finisher will get one less point until the 8th position driver getting 1 point.
Home advantage for Red Bull :
F1 Drivers’ Championship leader Max Verstappen had a disappointing British GP with a P7 finish . He will looking to bounce back and win Austrian GP as he has won a total of 4 races in this circuit .
Sergio Perez would like to bring on a similar performance as in British GP where he finished P2 and won the driver of the day award .
With rains forecasted for the race weekend, the Austrian GP can bring a lot of excitement .
