The Mick Schumacher problem for Haas F1 team

After winning the FIA Formula2 championship , Mick Schumacher made his Formula1 debut with the Haas F1 team in 2021.He hasn’t scored a point till now , while last season he did not have the car to deliver points , it is a completely different story this year .

His new team mate Kevin Magnussen has beaten him all the races so far and has showed the real potential of Haas VF-22 car to everyone .

Mick Schumacher needs to step up and start scoring for the team to keep his place in F1.

Haas Team Principal Guenther Steiner in an interview said , ” We had Kevin Magnussen in the points in all of the races except two .So I think Mick will get there .But he needs a perfect weekend , otherwise you’re not ending up in points this year, because the competition is so intense in the midfield .”

“I wouldn’t say that Mick made a big step in the winter .We brought Kevin back because we know what he’s capable of and he’s a good driver who is now a benchmark for Mick that he has to achieve .”

“But Mick knows that and he also has a good chance of getting his first points .I hope he takes it sooner rather than later because we want him to score points too .Once he scores his first points, normally things get easier because you have overcome a hurdle.And it motivates you to get on to better things.”

Former F1 driver Christian Danner had the similar feelings of Guenther and said that time flies quickly at the pinnacle of motorsport and it may be flying too quick for Mick Schumacher . He said , “The problem is that once you’re in Formula 1, the apprenticeship is actually over very quickly. Even Lando Norris screwed up once, but he came and was unbelievably good straight away.”

“Charles Leclerc has messed up a number of times too, but when he drove for Sauber, he made a show of it. Max Verstappen, yes, he sometimes had accidents. But the bar that this generation of new racing drivers is setting is very high and Mick will have to measure up to that,” said Danner about Mick.

Mick needs to score his first points sooner than later as the pressure regarding his F1 seat will come into question .
