Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora on Friday announced the election dates for Poll bound states Assam,TamilNadu,Kerala, Puducherry and West Bengal .
Polls will be held in 126 seats in Assam in 3 phases on March 27,April 4 and April 6.
140 seats in Kerala ,234 seats in TamilNadu and 30 seats in Puducherry will go to polls in a single phase on April 6 .
Polls in West Bengal which has 294 seats are to be held in 8 phases .The dates are March 27,April 1 ,April 6,April 10,April 17,April 22,April 26 and April 29 .
Apart from the Assembly polls , bypolls to Kanyakumari ,Mallapuram loksabha seats will be conducted on April 6 .
The votes will be counted for all the states on May 2.
Both Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) will be used in the Assembly and by-election .
Model code of conduct came into force once CEC announced the election dates .
Candidates can file their nominations online and voting will be allowed for extra one hour because of Covid19 . All poll officials will be vaccinated against covid19 before election .
