Max Verstappen targets for a 3rd consecutive F1 Drivers’ Championship as he believes Red Bull has produced a competitive car for 2023 season.
Though Red Bull won both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ championship , they were handed hefty fine of $7million and reduction in wind tunnel time by 10% for breaching the cost cap last season.
Verstappen ,When asked about the penalties said ,”Well, I mean, it will affect us, but how much? I don’t know yet .
“I’m confident that the team, and the people we have, can use that[penalties] as extra motivation to try and do even better. I know, of course, they always give their best.
“But we have a very competitive car, we have a lot of great ideas, I think, already for next year as well with the car, and hopefully it’s going to be enough.”
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko in another separate interview said Mercedes will be Red Bull’s biggest rival for the 2023 season.
Marko said,” Definitely Mercedes .They are the more stable squad. And they have Hamilton.
“Even if they may have gone downhill last year, they are still a very special team.
“[Hamilton’s] lap times have repeatedly shown that he is a top driver. [Mercedes] is just the much stronger package than Ferrari.”
Red Bull won 17 of the 22 races last season and is optimistic for the 2023 season.
