Nikita Mazepin’s F1 contract has been cancelled by Haas F1 team and will not race for Haas in 2022 season .
The official statement from Haas read , “Haas F1 Team has elected to terminate ,with immediate effect ,the title partnership of Uralkali , and the driver contract of Nikita Mazepin .As with the rest of the Formula 1 community , the team is shocked and saddened by the invasion of Ukraine and wishes for swift and peaceful end to the conflict .”
A devastated Nikita Mazepin shared on twitter , ” Dear Fans and followers , I am very disappointed to hear that my F1 contract has been terminated . While I understand the difficulties , the ruling from FIA plus my ongoing willingness to accept the conditions proposed in order to continue were completely ignored and no process was followed in this unilateral step .To those who have tried to understand , my eternal thanks. I have treasured my time in F1 and genuinely hope we can all be together again in better times . I will have more to say in the coming days .”
By terminating the sponsorship , it is not yet clear how Haas F1 will survive .There is no official statement about the new sponsor or the new driver yet .
Andretti may sponsor Haas F1 team :
Andretti who is hopeful of creating a F1 team “Andretti Global “ from the 2024 season , has said he has been trying to buy Haas F1 team for 2 years . With the current scenario of Haas terminating contract with Uralkali , Andretti may sponsor Haas F1 team .
Andretti in an interview with The Race.com said, “We’ll see. I’m going to put it out there: if he wants us to call him, we’ll call him. He’s got my number.He’s a funny dude, hard to read. He could get sick of it, I don’t know.”
