Can Ferrari be more stronger in F1 2023 season?

Date:

Ferrari finished second in the F1 Constructors’ Championship last season with 554 points (205 points behind Red Bull) . Though they started the 2022 season with a victory , the rest of the season was marred by Power unit issues and poor strategy .

Ferrari is reportedly said to be able to extract 30HP more out of their current Power Unit for 2023 . This could be a big boost for their title hopes next year . The last race of the season Abu Dhabi saw Ferrari more aggressive , which clearly shows Ferrari have rectified major problems .

Haas F1 team , which gets its power unit from Ferrari is very confident for next season .

Haas Team Principal Guenther Steiner during the Lorenzo Bandini Trophy Awards ceremony in Faenza said ,“On Thursday I met Mattia Binotto and he told me that next season’s engine will be the bomb .”

Ferrari appointed Fred Vasseur as the new Team Principal of Ferrari from January 2023 replacing Mattio Binotto. Fred Vasseur ended his six year tenure at Sauber to join Ferrari .

With more than two decades’ worth of motorsport experience , Fred Vasseur has the determination and personality to make his new role in Ferrari a huge success .

Ferrari Driver Carlos Sainz is confident of the coming season and believes Ferrari has a realistic shot of winning the F1 Championship. He feels Ferrari is “not far” away from bridging the performance gap to Red Bull.

“I feel we have chances. I mean, Red Bull has been dominant, but they’ve been dominant without being clearly ahead in pace,” said Sainz, pointing to his pole position – and Ferrari’s front row lock-out – at the late-season United States Grand Prix.

“I don’t feel like we are so far behind in terms of car development and car performance. If you think about it, I was on pole in Austin; we were one-two in quali. It must be that our car is actually not that far from the Red Bull.”

“What we need to focus on is in trying to understand [the 2023] tyres, [and] see how we can be quicker in the race, because it’s clear that the Red Bull is particularly quick in the race compared to us,” Sainz added.

“For the strategy, race execution, tyre management, that’s another step that we want to take, that we are already working on. But in terms of pure performance, we are not far [away].

“We just need to put on a bit more power and a bit more down force in the car, and we’re going to be at the same level or faster, so let’s hope that we can do that.”

Big Numbers:

Ferrari’s former Team Principal Mattio Binotto , who oversaw engine developments of 2022 said,”On the power unit, we set big numbers in terms of objectives,” he said over the summer. “And what I’ve seen that we have been capable of developing during last season for 2022 on the power unit, in more than 25 years in Maranello, I never saw that.”

With a lot of overhaul and works happening at Ferrari , Chances are looking bright for Ferrari to dominate the F1 2023 season .All eyes are now .

Peace ✌️
