Andretti Group is a leading brand in Indy car, Formula E ,Extreme E whilst also taking part in rallycross and Australian supercars.
Mario Andretti announced last week that his son Michael has applied to the FIA for fielding a new team called “Andretti Global” from the 2024 season .
Andretti said that they have a clear plan about their F1 entry and they are just waiting for the approval from FIA.
About the approval Andretti said , “We need it fast because the clock’s running for us to be there in 2024 .We need to know within a month.”
On the engine supplier ,” We have formal agreement now on the engine supplier and it’s out there ,so it’s going to be Renault and I’m allowed to say it now” Andretti said in an interview .
The F1 team’s headquarters would be near team’s IndyCar home in Indianapolis with a ‘race-base’ in England in order to operate mid-season.They wanted the car to be built in The United States of America .
The $200 million entry fees seems to be pretty easy for Andretti Group as they have a strong financial backing from investors .
About the investors , Andretti said ,” They want to do it right and be competitive .They are not in to just be in it .”
“They are in sports already and they think Formula 1 is very attractive at the moment .”
The way ,Max Verstappen winning the F1 world championship has boosted Dutch interest in Grand Prix. Andretti would like to follow the same path by bringing in a good American driver .He said , “You look at the growth in ratings in the Netherlands because they’ve got a driver .”
“There’s none here .If you get a good driver with a good following like Colton Herta, I think they’ll be in great shape .”
Andretti also said that F1 would raise their whole game and great for their brand .
