Red Bull’s struggling sister team , Alpha Tauri will have a new name for the next season .Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko has confirmed that Red Bull and Alpha Tauri will move into a relationship similar to Ferrari and Haas, as far as the regulations allow .
Alpha Tauri is currently in the last of the grid in Constructors’ Championship .They are struggling with performance issues and inconsistency over the past couple of seasons .
In a recent interview to kleinezeitung.at , Marko said , “”AlphaTauri will have two new leaders in 2024, Laurent Mekies and Peter Bayer. There will be new sponsors and a new name .
“The orientation is clear: follow Red Bull Racing as far as the regulations allow. Own designs are the wrong way to go.”
He also added that they are not happy with Nyck de Vries , “Basically, Yuki is having a very good season with unfortunate results and penalties, but the performance is right .
“With Nyck de Vries, however, we are not satisfied, we are looking at that as well.”
Marko also said that although AlphaTauri’s results may have been poor, their primary objective remains the development of young talents .
Next Year’s Driver Line up :
Although there is no clear picture with regarding to the next year’s Alpha Tauri’s driver line up , former co-owner of Alpha Tauri CEO Gerhard Berger has revealed young New Zealander Liam Lawson is a strong candidate .
He said , “I have high regard for the young New Zealander Liam Lawson .He is currently doing a fantastic job in the highly respected Super Formula in Japan. He caught my attention for the first time two years ago in the DTM, sponsored by Red Bull, driving a Ferrari.
“He is the next one from the Red Bull pool that we will see in Formula 1. But without the junior team, that would be difficult to achieve.”
It is also rumored that Daniel Ricciardo may find a place in Alpha Tauri for next season .
